Who we are

This website is operated by Eight Two Digital, a trading name of Eight Two Studio Ltd. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 13902739, registered office 9 Limelight Lane, Sittingbourne, ME10 1FU. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Eight Two Studio Ltd is the data controller for information collected through this site.

What we collect, and why

Enquiry form

When you submit the contact form we collect your name, business name, email address, phone number if you give one, the service you select and the message you write. We use it to reply to you and, if you go ahead, to prepare a quote and deliver the work.

The form is submitted directly from your browser to Web3Forms, a third-party form-delivery service, which forwards it to our inbox. That means Web3Forms receives everything you type into the form, along with the technical information any web request carries. We use it only as a delivery mechanism and do not ask it to profile or market to you. For exactly what Web3Forms does with submissions and how long it holds them, please see their own privacy notice, since that is their processing rather than ours.

The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries you have chosen to send us and, where a project goes ahead, taking steps at your request to enter into a contract.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is one of the main ways to reach us and there are WhatsApp links throughout this site. If you message us that way, your message and your WhatsApp profile information are processed through WhatsApp, which is provided by Meta under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive and keep the conversation in the same way we would an email, and we use it to reply and to deliver any work that follows. We have no control over how Meta processes the message in transit or on its own systems.

Prospective client research

Separately from this website, we sometimes identify businesses across the UK that might benefit from what we do and contact them directly, using business contact details that the business itself has already published, such as a phone number, email address or social media profile.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interest in proportionate business-to-business marketing. Being publicly available does not put that information outside UK data protection law: where a business contact detail identifies a person, such as a named individual at a firm or a sole trader, UK GDPR still applies to it, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations apply to electronic marketing. You can object to direct marketing at any time, and if you do we will stop and remove your details. This information is not connected to anything you do on this website.

Analytics

If you accept analytics via the banner on this site, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and how you arrived. Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics identifiers are set until you actively accept. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using “Cookie preferences” in the footer of any page.

Location is derived from IP address and is recorded at city level, not just country. Google states that IP addresses themselves are not logged or stored in Google Analytics 4. How long it is kept is set on our Analytics property: event-level data for two months, and user-level data for fourteen months from a visitor’s most recent visit, after which Google deletes it.

Hosting and technical data

This site is hosted by Vercel. As with any website, serving a page involves processing technical request information such as your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and your browser and device type. This happens whether or not you accept analytics, because it is how a request reaches a server and gets a response. We use it to run and secure the site, under our legitimate interest in operating it reliably.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into a project are kept for up to 12 months from your last contact, then deleted. If you become a client, we keep what we need to deliver and support the work for as long as that relationship lasts, and financial records for 6 years afterwards as UK tax law requires. Business contact details held for outreach are deleted when we no longer have a reasonable basis to keep contacting that business, or sooner if you ask. Analytics retention is governed by the setting on our Google Analytics property, as above.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. It is shared only with the providers needed to run this site and our business: Web3Forms for form delivery, Vercel for hosting, Meta where you choose to contact us on WhatsApp, our email provider, and Google for analytics if you have accepted it.

Where your information is processed

Some of these providers are based outside the UK, or process data on infrastructure outside the UK, including in the United States. That means your information may be transferred outside the UK. Where it is, we rely on the transfer mechanisms those providers put in place, which are typically the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, and in some cases the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. If you would like more detail about a specific provider, ask us and we will point you to their current transfer documentation.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. You also have an absolute right to object to direct marketing: if you tell us to stop, we stop, and we do not need to weigh it against anything. Concerns and complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, tell us first at hello@eighttwodigital.com and we will look into it and come back to you. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk at any time, whether or not you have raised it with us.
