Where every photograph on this site came from, who took it, and how it has been changed.

How we use these images

We do not use our own photography for the location pages. Every image is a genuine photograph of the place it appears on, and every one is credited below.

All location hero images have been modified for website display. Each one is cropped to a wide format, desaturated, lightly blurred, brightness-normalised, recompressed as WebP and displayed behind a dark overlay so headline text stays readable. Where a licence asks us to indicate that changes were made, that is what this note is for.

Pexels

City photographs. The Pexels licence does not require attribution, so these credits are recorded for provenance rather than obligation. Each entry names the photographer and links to the licence.
